My Crazy Sexy Cool The TLC Story Review

Last night was the VH1 Original Movie premiere of Crazy Sexy Cool The TLC Story. I’ll be honest, I didn’t know what to expect from this. Not so much that it would be a bust just not sure if I would like it. I am an 80s baby so music for me has taken a serious downturn from when I was youngster in the streets of Brooklyn. Social media sites like Twitter and Instagram were on fire with comments, quotes, and scene images. All in all everyone was watching, reminiscing, and enjoying the story of TLC.

Playing T-Boz was Drew Sidora from BET’s The Game. She captured her raspy voice, dope baggy style, edgy hair style, and sickle cell anemia admiringly. Keke Palmer, best known from Akeelah and the Bee, has definitely grown up to play the role as Chilli. My twitter feed could not let go of how laid her baby hairs were. She brought so much emotion in conveying her first pregnancy by producer Dallas Austin, played by very handsome Evan Ross! Rapper, Lil Mama, killed her role as Left Eye! It was as if she was able to be mentored by Left Eye herself on how to successfully do this part. Hands down (in my Tamar Braxton voice) “she won”!

Crazy Sexy Cool The TLC Story was an answer to all the questions we as fans had about the girl group we loved. It was a flashback to the past when girls didn’t have to show off their bodies to get media attention. It made you realize where music came from to what it is now. It made you admire TLC even more as we watched their personal and professional struggles while breaking musical charts. Huge thanks to Chilli, who we learned was not the was not the original “C”, for persuading the VH1 execs to put this out.

If you missed the premiere last night it’s definitely worth your while to catch the rerun. Take a peek below!
